The House of Representatives Committee investigating abandoned projects in the Niger Delta has summoned the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor Godwin Emiefele to appear before it on Sept. 16. The husband of former US vice-presidential candidate, Sarah Palin, has filed for divorce, according to US media. Papers filed in Anchorage, Alaska, on Friday identified the couple by initials – but birth and wedding dates match those of the Palins. The paperwork, reportedly filed by Todd Palin, cited an “incompatibility of temperament” as the reason for divorce. The Palins, both 55, married in 1988 and have five children together. The Federal High Court on Tuesday convicted two students for internet fraud in Abuja. The convicts are Adefemi Dare and Adeyemi Olugbenga, 400-level Mechanical Engineering and Political Science students respectively of Ekiti State University, Ekiti. The students were convicted after pleading guilty to the fraud. The EFCC alleged that Dare, sometime ago in Ekiti fraudulently impersonated Brian Watkins of the U.S. with intent to obtain property. A Nigerian Shiite group banned by the government said police killed 12 of its members and injured more on Tuesday during marches in the north of country to mark a Muslim holiday. The Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) on Tuesday said that its collaboration with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has led to the arrest of 167 Nigerians for alleged computer related frauds. The Iraqi health ministry said on Tuesday that 31 people had been killed and 100 others wounded in a stampede during Shiite Ashura celebrations in the city of Karbala.
