The European Union (EU) is allocating an additional €300 000 (N102m) in humanitarian aid to provide life-saving treatment to undernourished children in Nigeria’s northwestern states of Sokoto and Zamfara. The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has destroyed two ammunition–laden gun trucks in Northern Borno, belonging to the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP). Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, NAF Director of Public Relations and Information confirmed this in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja. Daramola said the trucks were destroyed by the Air Task Force (ATF) of the Operation Lafiya Dole. A Psychiatrist, Dr Moses Effiong, has advocated the introduction of mental health education into the nation’s academic curriculum. Effiong, a Consultant at Salem Hospital, Warri in Delta, told Newsmen in Warri on Wednesday, that the step, if taken, would help to increase awareness on mental illness. He said that poor awareness was responsible for the delay in reporting mental illness cases for medical attention. The Presidential Election Petition Tribunal has struck out the petition of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, citing TraderMoni as a vote buying strategy.
