The Presidency has opened a condolence register for Mallam Abba Kyari, the late Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari who was buried at Gudu cemetery, Abuja on Saturday. The Presidency explained that the condolence register will be opened at the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) from Sunday. The decision by the Presidency somewhat negates the 14-day lockdown order given by President Buhari last Monday. Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun has relaxed the lockdown in his state five days after President Muhammadu Buhari declared an additional 14-day lockdown to contain the spread of coronavirus. The United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) has projected up to 3.3 million deaths and 1.2 billion infections across Africa before the end of the year, under the worst-case scenario. Under the best-case scenario, the agency said, there will be 300,000 deaths from the deadly virus on the continent.
