Popular Nigerian Afrobeats star Asake made a special appearance at the ongoing Major League Soccer (MLS) in New York.
The musician was celebrated with a ceremonial coin toss during the match between the New York Red Bulls and Columbus.
Asake took to Instagram on Sunday to post photographs and videos from the occasion, where he posed with players and referees before kickoff.
The appearance demonstrates Asake’s growing global prominence as he broadens his reach beyond the music scene.
Asake, born Ahmed Ololade, rose to prominence in 2020 with his breakthrough single, Lady. He signed with YBNL in February 2022 and has since released three studio albums: Mr. Money With The Vibes (2022), Work of Art (2023), and Lungu Boy (2024).
Earlier this year, the Afrobeats superstar was nominated for Best African Music Performance at the 2025 Grammy Awards but lost to Tems.
In February, he released his first single, Why Love, on his new label, Giran Republic, ushering in a new chapter in his career after leaving Olamide’s YBNL Nation.
