Hon. Bernard Udemezue, a member of the Anambra State House of Assembly representing the Ayamelum Constituency, has been suspended for three months.
Udemezue was suspended for sharing “damaging content” on social media.
The congressman, who was elected on the Peoples Democratic Party platform, said on social media that his constituency, Ayamelum, is underserved in terms of constituency allowances.
In response to the post, the House passed a resolution to summon Udemezue at its plenary last Tuesday, following a matter of urgent public importance moved by Tony Muobike, a member representing Aguata 2 Constituency, and seconded by Jude Ngobili, the Chief Whip and member representing Ihiala 1 Constituency.
The Speaker, Somtochukwu Udeze, presided over the plenary last Tuesday and referred the matter to the House Committee on Rules, Businesses, Ethics, and Privileges, which will report back to the House on Tuesday (this week).
The Anambra House of Assembly also passed a resolution suspending the MP for three months during plenary on Tuesday (today).
