The only survivor of June’s Air India crash may never return to Britain due to his fear of flying, according to his family.
Relatives of Leicester businessman Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, 40, say he is still “deeply traumatised” by the tragedy, which killed 260 people, and is getting counselling in India.
“I think he will stay over there because he would be too frightened to get on a plane again,” his brother-in-law said as quoted by Daily Mail UK.
Ramesh, who escaped from seat 11A with wounds to his face and chest injuries, lost his brother Ajay, 35, in the disaster.
His wife, Hiral, and their four-year-old kid came to India to support him but have already returned to the United Kingdom.
“He is still having treatment,” Hiral said.
Families of other British fatalities have accused Indian authorities and the Foreign Office of “a severe lack of communication” after some victims’ bodies were mixed up or misplaced.
In a letter to Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper, they stated, “Silence and a terrible lack of contact oblige us to bring this to your attention. We feel abandoned.
The deceased relatives have taken legal action to get Air India’s maintenance and pilot data.
