    We love your good work, Sultan tells Osinbajo

    The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar, has applauded the “good work” of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, who arrived the ancient northern city on Friday.

    The Vice President arrived the state ahead of the two-day maiden convocation ceremony of the Sokoto State University, where he is expected to deliver the convocation lecture titled “Nigeria: Some Defining Issues For The Future” on Friday.

    Prof. Osinbajo, SAN, making his 5th historic visit to the State as Vice President, was received on his arrival at Sultan Abubakar III International Airport by the State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal.

    Governor Tambuwal, who was joined by members of his cabinet to usher Prof. Osinbajo in to the State, said in his welcome remark, “Welcome home to your people.”

    From the airport, Governor Tambuwal in a motorcade, led Vice President Osinbajo to the palace of the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar, where he was accorded a heroic welcome.

    The Sultan, who, with a warm embrace, received Vice President Osinbajo to his palace, lauded him for his good work, saying, “The VP is here because he loves what he is doing for the development of the country.
    I thank you for all that you have been doing, reaching out to everybody. We thank you for honouring our invitation.”

    The two-day convocation ceremony of the University of Sokoto is holding under the chairmanship of the Emir of Gwandu, Alhaji Muhammad Bashar.

    The Convocation Lecture delivered at the university amphitheatre, while the award of Bachelor’s Degree, Honorary Doctorate Degree and investiture of the university Chancellor took place at the same venue on Saturday.

    Professor Sani Dangoggo, the Vice Chancellor of Sokoto State University, had, at an earlier press briefing for the combined first, second and third convocation, disclosed that 1,473 from the university’s three faculties of arts and social science, education and science, will be awarded a Bachelor’s Degree.

    He added that thirty-six (36) graduates had first class degrees, with seven (7) in 2016/17, eighteen (18) in 2017/18 and eleven (11) in 2018/2019 sessions respectively.
