    BREAKING: Afenifere endorses Buhari/Osinbajo

    Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has received the endorsement of Afenifere, a socio-cultural organization for the Yoruba people of Nigeria on behalf of himself and President Muhammadu Buhari.

    The endorsement comes barely two weeks to the presidential election which holds on 16 February.

    Prof Osinbajo and President Buhari are seeking a second term in office.

    The Afenifere faction led by Chief Ayo Fasanmi had on 20 December, after its meeting held at the House of Chiefs, Secretariat in Ibadan, declared that it will today, (Tuesday 29th January 2019) formally endorse the candidature of President Muhammadu Buhari as its preferred presidential candidate ahead of the 2019 general elections.

    The group at the endorsement which took place at the International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan argued that it endorsed Buhari because, he had performed well.

    At the event were Vice President of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, Chief Ayo Fasanmi, Deputy Governor of Lagos and Osun States, Mrs. Idiat Adebule and Mrs. Yetunde Onanuga, former Minister, Demola Seriki who represented Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

    Traditional rulers at the event included the Ewi of Ado Ekiti, Oba Rufus Adedejuyigbe, Akirun of Ikirun, Oba Abioye Oyebode, Oniye of Iye Ekiti, Oba Adeleye Oni among others.

    Member representing Atiba/ AFIJIO/ Oyo East/ Oyo West, Hon. Akeem Adeyemi, Hon. Asimiyu Alarape, Chief Akin Fasae, and gubernatorial candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), in Lagos state, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu were also at the event.

    The endorsement of Buhari and his Vice, Professor Yemi Osinbajo was moved by Senator Olabiyi Durojaye at the event on Tuesday.

    Buhari and Osinbajo’s endorsement moved by Durojaye was supported by other five leaders of the group among whom were, Prince Tajudeen Olusi (Lagos), Professor Bayonile Ademodi (Ondo), Elder Yemi Alade (Ekiti), Chief S. M. Akindele (Oyo), and Sooko Adewoyin (Osun).

    Fasanmi earlier in his remarks, said that Buhari deserved another term in the office.

    He said, “I want all of you to work and vote for Buhari who has performed very credibly and I think he deserved second term in the office.

    “He is the only candidate that is campaigning about corrupt free society. I am pleased that all the South West under the APC fold”
