The Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, on Sunday night, led a delegation to Madina, Saudi Arabia, for the funeral rites of the late business mogul and elder statesman, Alhaji Aminu Alhassan Dantata.
Dantata, widely respected as a philanthropist and industrialist, passed away in the early hours of Saturday in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, where he spent his final days.
According to a statement issued by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Tofa, the high-profile delegation comprised the Emir of Kano, Khalifa Muhammadu Sanusi II, Jigawa State Governor, Alhaji Umar Namadi, former Jigawa State Governor, Ali Sa’ad Birnin Kudu, along with other top government officials and dignitaries.
Speaking at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport before departure, Governor Yusuf praised the late Dantata’s legacy, saying, “a father to many, whose generosity and commitment to humanity transcended borders.”
He further explained that the delegation’s presence in Madina was to pay tribute to Dantata’s lifetime of service and honor. “The late Aminu Dantata represented an era of integrity, faith, and enterprise that helped shape modern Nigeria,” Yusuf added.
The funeral is expected to draw a wide array of attendees, including family members, business associates, Islamic scholars, and dignitaries from across the globe.
