In a sustained crackdown on crime across Lagos, the Lagos State Taskforce has raided several hideouts used by drug peddlers and addicts in Gowon Estate and surrounding streets, leading to the arrest of 19 suspects allegedly involved in narcotics trafficking and other unlawful acts.

According to Gbadeyan Abdulraheem, Director of Press and Public Affairs for the Lagos State Taskforce, the raid forms part of the agency’s ongoing efforts to enforce public order and maintain environmental sanity.

The operation uncovered a disturbing haul of controlled substances, including Colorado, Indian hemp, and other hard drugs.

Bags of illicit substances were also reportedly discovered in the boots of parked vehicles in the area, pointing to the depth of criminal operations ongoing in the community.

Chairman of the Lagos State Taskforce, CSP Adetayo Akerele, said the arrests and seizures were evidence of the agency’s firm stance against criminality.

“This operation reflects our zero-tolerance policy against illegal activities that threaten the peace and security of the state. All the suspects will face the full weight of the law as investigations continue. Residents are encouraged to report any suspicious activities to authorities using our ‘See Something, Say Something’ initiative,” Akerele stated.

He further emphasized that the Taskforce remains committed to purging Lagos of criminal elements and ensuring the safety and peace of residents.

The operation is the fifth in a series of targeted efforts by the Taskforce aimed at stamping out drug abuse and hooliganism in the area.

The agency also reiterated its call for public cooperation in tackling crime, urging residents to remain vigilant and work with law enforcement authorities.

The Lagos State Taskforce, under CSP Akerele’s leadership, continues to position itself as a proactive force in the fight against urban criminality, vowing not to relent until the menace of drug trafficking is eradicated.
