Borussia Dortmund staged a comeback to defeat LOSC Lille 2-1 at Stade Pierre-Mauroy, clinching a 3-2 aggregate victory and sealing their place in the UEFA Champions League (UCL) quarter-finals.

The result dashed Lille’s hopes of reaching the last eight for the first time in their history.

Lille, inspired by PSG’s triumph the night before, took an early lead within five minutes. Ismaily surged down the wing and delivered a cut-back to Jonathan David, whose low shot slipped through the grasp of Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel.

The hosts nearly doubled their lead when Rémy Cabella’s volley went just wide, but Dortmund soon found their rhythm.

Serhou Guirassy was instrumental in Dortmund’s response, setting up Pascal Groß for a shot that was denied by Lille goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier and a last-ditch clearance from Alexsandro.

Chevalier then produced a series of stunning saves—first denying Julian Ryerson and later pulling off a miraculous double stop from Julian Brandt and Guirassy. Lille captain Benjamin André also made a crucial goal-line clearance to maintain their lead at halftime.

The visitors ramped up the pressure after the break and earned a penalty when former Dortmund defender Thomas Meunier fouled Guirassy inside the box. Emre Can calmly converted from the spot, leveling the tie at 2-2 on aggregate.

Lille tried to respond, with Hákon Arnar Haraldsson forcing Kobel into a save, but Dortmund kept pushing. Karim Adeyemi hit the crossbar before Maximilian Beier finally struck the decisive blow, rifling a shot into the top corner after being set up by Guirassy.

Lille pushed for an equalizer, with both David and Chuba Akpom testing Kobel, but the Dortmund defense held firm. The Bundesliga side secured their passage to the quarter-finals, where they will face an in-form Barcelona.

For Lille, the defeat marked only their third loss in 17 home matches across all competitions. Their focus now shifts to securing Champions League qualification through their domestic league campaign.
