Canadians call for boycott of Tim Hortons over immigrant hire, bad food

Canadians have called for the boycott of restaurant chain Tim Hortons following an overwhelming increase in hiring of immigrants, mainly Indians, and the poor standard of its food.

On social media, Canadians assert that the company lacks the quality it used to have in terms of customer care service, food quality, and hiring of Canadians.

On social media, The Buck You Will expressed disappointment with Tim Hortons, saying, “Join the boycott.” Tim Hortons’ does not represent Canadian values anymore. Hit them where it hurts—their bottom line. Their coffee is watered down. Their food is inedible. Their staff doesn’t speak English. Their doughnuts are stale.

Cruise snapped a picture of a Tim Hortons trash can at 9 a.m. and wrote, “This Tim Hortons location opens by 9 a.m.; at 9 a.m., we were inside waiting in the queue, but tell me why their trash is still sitting here this early with those tiny flies. Oh, and they don’t sell Maple Breakfast Farmers’ Wrap.

David Brady claims that his family and friends have had enough of the fast food company. “I’m done. My family is done. My friends are all saying the same. The East Indians have taken all the jobs, and Canadians are no longer being hired. They can’t speak English, mess up every order, and don’t gaffe about customer service.

Ethan also waded in on the conversation. Ethan responded to the video featuring a Canadian woman who faced termination due to her confrontation with her Indian manager’s employment bias. “Currently, hundreds of Indian foreign students are applying for jobs at Tim Hortons, while 1.5 million Canadians are unemployed,” he claimed.

Anil Kumar similarly stated that we should not tolerate the treatment of the Canadian woman. “I am an Indian and will agree that racial discrimination shouldn’t be tolerated. Yes, I have worked abroad in a senior post and have seen this practice too. Get a lawyer to screw the company.

For Reza Chowdhury, he had a bizarre customer service experience. “I had a very disappointing experience at one of your stores today. I ordered two of the 20-ounce ceramic ghost mugs online for pickup at the drive-thru, and things went downhill from there. When I arrived, an employee commented on how cute the mug was, and then instead of giving me my order, she got another employee to issue a refund for the mugs! When I asked what was going on, I was told that they only had one mug left, and the original employee wanted it for herself! The second employee had to run over and grab the mug back from her to give it to me. Even as I was being handed the mug, the first employee kept saying, “I want it, I want it!” Is this really how your staff treats customers? I’m at a loss. I paid for the item, only to have an employee try to take it for herself. I’ve never experienced anything like this. As a long-time customer, I’m deeply disappointed by this behavior. What action will you take to address this? I can provide the specific store address and receipt if needed.”

Tim Hortons is yet to respond to the accusations against it and has not also responded to calls for a boycott by many online.
