Marvel Studios has dropped Emmy-nominated actor Jonathan Majors after he was convicted of assaulting his then-girlfriend.

Majors, 34, was found guilty of assaulting and harassing British choreographer Grace Jabbari during an altercation in March by a jury in New York on Monday.

Following the verdict, a Marvel representative stated that the studio would no longer collaborate with the actor.

When sentenced in February, majors could face up to a year in prison.

It’s a stunning setback for a leading Hollywood actor who was set to appear in multiple Marvel films.

In the Marvel films, Majors portrayed the villain Kang the Conqueror. He appeared in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania in February of this year, as well as the Disney+ series Loki, which is now in its second season.

Marvel had already pushed back the release date for Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, in which he was set to star. He was set to reprise his role as the character in the sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars.

It is unclear whether Marvel Studios intends to replace him with another actor or to remove his character from the films.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Marvel has already hired Loki’s creator to rework a draft of the film, which was previously titled The Kang Dynasty. According to the outlet, the new working title for the film is Avengers 5.

Following his arrest, the release of Magazine Dreams, an upcoming film starring Majors and rumored to be an Oscar contender, was also postponed.

When the news broke, the US Army also pulled the Creed III star from a major advertising campaign.

His ex-girlfriend, Ms. Jabbari, suffered a fractured finger, bruises, and a cut behind her ear after a fight in a cab in New York City over a phone.
