Workers of the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) have shut down the service’s headquarters in Abuja in protest over Tola Odeyemi’s nomination as Chief Executive Officer/Post Master General.
Last week, Presidential Spokesman Chief Ajuri Ngelale said that President Bola Tinubu had made changes in the leadership of communication agencies, including NIPOST.
However, shortly after Odeyemi’s appointment was announced, reports surfaced that Adeyemi Adepoju, the fired Post Master-General, had been reinstated.
Adepoju was seen in a viral video addressing some workers who believed Tinubu had reappointed him.
However, on Monday, protesting employees refused admission to the newly appointed CEO, claiming that her hiring was against their wishes.
Workers who favoured Adepoju chanted solidarity songs and held placards.
