Presidential aspirant and governor of Kogi state, Yahaya Bello says Asiwaju Bola Tinubu agreed to consensus candidate at the meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday.

Chronicle NG reports that President Buhari met with All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential aspirants to seek a consensus candidate.

Contrary to beliefs that Tinubu did not want a consensus candidate for the ruling party, Governor Yahaya Bello on Channels TV’s Politics Today said the former Lagos governor was in support.

Asked if he will drop his ambition for a consensus candidate, he said, “If it comes from Mr. President, President Muhammadu Buhari himself, I will 100% support the person, if I am not selected. If it is any other person, I will support the person because that is his wisdom. He knows better than me, he sees better than me, he receives reports better than me.”

Asked if that includes Tinubu, Yahaya Bello replied, “He was seated, he never objected. “He was seated in the meeting and he did not object to it, so if somebody speaks on your behalf and you don’t have anything to the contrary and you keep quiet, then it’s binding on you. So, yesterday everybody spoke on behalf of various region.

“His Excellency Chief Ogbonaya Onu spoke on behalf of the group, His Excellency Governor Badaru of Jigawa state spoke on behalf of the governors forum and His Excellency Professor Yemi Osinbajo concurred, not only agreeing but he concurred, remember he is a lawyer of repute, he is a professor of law and he is the number two citizen of this country today.

“He concurred with that particular assertion. If Mr. President comes up today with a President, I mean a successor or a candidate and possibly Vice, each and everyone of us will flow,” Yahaya Bello said.
