Nigerian comedian and Nollywood actor Lawrence Oluwaseyitan Aletile, popularly known as Seyi Law, has suffered a backlash from Nigerians over his call for support for President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Seyi Law, a vocal supporter of Tinubu, in a solemn call on his verified X handle on Saturday, urged Nigerians to support the Tinubu-led administration, noting that “things would get better.”

Making, an allusion to the story of Moses in the Holy Bible, Seyi Law noted that, “I would rather stay with a Moses through the wilderness to Canaan than eat meat and drink wine in slavery in Egypt at the expense of my children’s future.”

The Joker, who likened Tinubu to the Biblical Moses, noted that he would rather ”we reset, rebuild, and sustain our future than live on a better now by borrowing our future. I want to see certain people-driven and engaging policies in the agriculture, power, and health sectors. I am hopeful.”

Pledging his unwavering support for the president, Seyi Law noted that despite the backlashes aimed at Tinubu, ”if another election were held tomorrow, I would still vote for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”

Seyi Law’s statement on X reads, “I would rather stay with Moses through the wilderness to Canaan than eat meat and drink wine in slavery in Egypt at the expense of my children’s future.

”While a lot of Nigerians kill the optimism of others with hate and the urge for immediate gratification, it is sad that our government agencies are not communicating government agendas, efforts, and actions effectively.

”I am not one to judge anyone for their anger towards the government. After all, they were voted to serve the people. I am maybe only privileged to be better informed.

”I know everything doesn’t rest at the center, and I should be able to make demands from the state government.

”Your allocations have increased, and to take steps towards a better transportation system, not to mention subsidizing it for your citizens, is a mountain you’re finding hard to climb. The state governors are shameless.

”It is easy for any government at the center to please the multitude by reverting to full subsidies on fuel and exchange rates, but I would rather we reset, rebuild, and sustain our future than live on a better now by borrowing our future.

”I want to see certain people-driven and engaging policies in the agriculture, power, and health sectors. I am hopeful.

”I will criticize constructively and condemn unworthy acts. To those still cursing in my mentions, if another election were held tomorrow, I would still vote for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”

Seyi Law’s statement, which did not go down well with a cross section of Nigerians, had the renowned comedian “dragged” to filth.

An X user with the user name Naira Exchanger noted that while the comedian drums in support for Tinubu, Seyi Law’s family stays outside the shores of the country.

”His family is safe from kidnappers in the UK. His family has constant electricity. His family has access to free healthcare. His family benefits from free education up to the GCSE level.

“His family enjoys discounted public transportation. His family lives without fear of armed robberies at night. His family can afford holidays abroad.

”No wonder he will vote for Tinubu again, as he doesn’t seem to care for your family. Only a fool would listen to this selfish individual,” he noted.

Calling the comedian ”kolo”, which means a crazy person in local Nigerian parlance, Kajay Prince stated in his reaction, ”But your family, no dey wilderness…lol! Make the rest of Yoruba no listen to Kolo like you, I no blame you sha.

”Oga wilderness, but family, they chillax for the UK.

”For once, I truly believed that you’re a comedian.”

Another X user, Maximus, stated that while the comedian drums support for Tinubu, his family stays away from the ”heat” of kidnapping, insecurity, and inflation bedeviling the country.

”You carry your family, run go Uk then leave your so-called Moses for us, then they tell us to stay with your Moses.

”Say you believe say Moses go lead us to the promised land. Abeg, why you run leave your Moses then?

”Why you nor dey with your Moses as he dey lead you to the promised land?

”Na today you confirm say you be real comedian,” Maximus noted.

Ikumoinein Woyingikuro noted that Seyi Law’s ”propaganda” would not make Tinubu’s administration appear like a saint.

He said, ”All I see is propaganda. You can’t whitewash a failed government. Let’s assume for a second that Buhari never left office. Would the situation be this bad? If your answer is yes, then why wasn’t it this bad before he handed it over to BAT?”

Chimezie, urged the comedian to stop with his ”damage control”, stating that there is no need to be optimistic over a ”failed” leader.

Joshua Aroke called Seyi Law a ”scam”, noting that his position on Tinubu’s admission is based on his being rich.

Aroke said, ”The very quote here is a bourgeois statement, and it can only be convenient for the rich elite, of which, either directly or by association, you are one of them. Any poor and lower-middle-class person taking such a quote to work with is only deceiving himself.

”Lastly, learn from immediate history that the same was used to sell Buhari’s eight years of damnation. And who says Nigeria must go through excruciating hardship before they can enjoy it? Scam.”

Calling the comedian a ”selfish” man, an X user simply identified as Joshua noted that, ”This man is too selfish. Because he’s good, he doesn’t care if others are dying.

“What do you tell the man that his children are out of school and his salary can no longer feed his family of five?

“Nigerians, these are the problems. People who are after their own needs and neglect you are in trouble.”

Berating him for allegedly benefiting from Tinubu’s government, the Emperor on X stated that Seyi Law is ”a crazy beneficiary of the useless government with no motives.”

Omere Nosakhare stated, “Some people were better informed of the theoretical agendas and plans of the Buhari administration, but from the get-go, everyone could see a big failure coming.

“Stop talking about increased allocation when 100k Naira from 12 months ago could get you more than 200k today. Stop it.”

Calling the comedian’s statement “arrant nonsense”, Ray Lyotha stated that “you can’t tell me that when we all saw how Tinubu acquired a yacht for himself, keep giving appointments to his family and friends, how many ministers? Yet you come out to tell me the nation is poor! Seyi, you must be sick upstairs!”

Mike Wisdom, slammed Seyi Law, saying, ”You are eating from your Moses at the detriment of the suffering masses of Nigerians.

”You are blind to the bad policies of your Moses because of the crumbs you eat from your Moses’ table. The major reason why you support this failed government is what you are gaining.”

For Lucid Baba, he opined that, “There’s no plan. It’s just a promise. Tinubu can’t break down the road map to his strategies.

“How are you stopping inflation? What were the steps taken? When are we reaching the second, third, and last stages of the plan? How long? What are we expecting from you? What are you expecting from us? ”

According Eze Ayoka, he noted that Seyi Law was making such statements because he was not directly affected by the rising cost of foodstuffs in the market.

He said, “You are speaking from a place of plenty.

“How do you explain to the widow in Kastina that she should wait until whatever Tinubu is doing matures? Come down from your high horse and
    Smell the coffee.”

Aduola Michael referred to Seyi Law as “one of those promising fast-rising comedians that lost it with the stupid decisions he took.

”I am not surprised by your words, believing in someone who lacks vision, empathy, and sympathy for the ordinary Nigerian; that reflects where you got your ideas and reason for how your career has gone south. Shame on you and shame on your education.”
