Super Eagles goalie Stanley Nwabali has disclosed that he is in great pain following the injury he suffered in Nigeria’s 2-0 win over Cameroon on Saturday.

The Super Eagles defeated their archrivals with two goals from Ademola Lookman, advancing to the quarterfinals against Angola.

The Atalanta attacker scored in the 36th minute after Victor Osimhen found him inside the box.

Lookman ultimately clinched the 2-0 victory for the three-time champs.

Nwabali was replaced in the 80th minute by Francis Uzoho after colliding with Georges-Kevin N’Koudou, who injured him.

Speaking to the media after the game, the Chippa United goaltender stated that he was still in discomfort but would have to wait for a doctor’s report.

“I don’t know, but maybe the doctor would tell, but I’m still feeling pain. You know when an injury is new, you always feel pain,” he said.

Super Eagles manager Jose Peseiro said the team’s medical experts had yet to determine the extent of Nwabali’s injury, but he was optimistic he would play for Nigeria in the quarterfinals.

On Friday, the Super Eagles will meet Angola at the Felix Houphouet-Boigny Stadium to advance to the semi-finals.
