Terrorists operating in the northwest of Nigeria have sacked some residents of Kidandan in Giwa Local Government Area, Kaduna State for failing to pay taxes.

The terrorists who raided the Kaduna village for many hours over the weekend abducted residents and sent others scampering as they shot indiscriminately.

Some survivors of the attack narrated their ordeal to journalists. They said the terrorists were bandits who had previously raided the community.

They explained that the renewed attack on Kidandan was because farmers failed to pay levies to the bandits.

Chronicle NG reports that bandit attacks in Kaduna State and northwest Nigeria are rampant. Many communities have lamented the lack of government presence, leaving them at the mercy of the bandits.

“In the past six days, bandits have been frequenting Kidandan, but this attack was particularly devastating. They instilled terror, stole belongings, and abducted our people. Every resident in Kidandan lives in extreme fear,” the resident who did not want to be named said.

“Our women and children are leaving in large numbers. The sudden and unplanned departure is striking. They seek safety, heading to Zaria and other seemingly secured areas to stay with friends and relatives,” he lamented.
