Peter Obi, the former Anambra State governor, has called for an investigation into the incessant fire outbreaks nationwide.
Chronicle NG reports that the former Anambra State governor expressed sadness over the horrifying situations in these harsh economic times.
Obi posted on his verified X page, “There have been reports of incessant fire outbreaks across the country within the last 24 hours. The first was a fire outbreak at the first Niger Bridge, Onitsha, and the second was at Ladipo Plank Market, Amukoko, Lagos, among others.
“Thankfully, there was no loss of lives in the reported cases, but these unfortunate mishaps recorded an appreciably severe loss of properties and other means of livelihood, Obi said.
“It is very saddening to see the hard-working public going through horrifying situations in these harsh economic times.
“While these fire incidents resulted from different causes, it is important at this point to remind ourselves of the need to be very careful with inflammable materials, especially now that we are entering the dry season, which is prone to fire outbreaks.
“I thank the relevant emergency responders and social workers, as well as many other kind-hearted Nigerians who, in both cases, helped to control the inferno and manage the situation.
“I also sympathize with those who lost their properties and means of livelihood to these sad events, while calling on concerned agencies to investigate the causes of the fire to forestall future occurrences.
