The Court of Appeal in Abuja has reserved judgement on Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf’s appeal against his removal by the Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal.
The Kano election petitions tribunal had on September 20 declared Yusuf’s election null and void, finding 165,663 of his votes invalid.
The tribunal ruled that the ballot papers were not signed or stamped by the Independent National Electoral Commission. As a result, it proclaimed Nasiru Gawuna, the All Progressives Congress candidate, the winner of the gubernatorial race.
Dissatisfied with the judgment, Yusuf appealed against the tribunal verdict and urged the court to set aside the judgment.
