The Supreme Court on Monday reserved judgement in the appeal by Atiku Abubakar and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) against the judgement of the Presidential Election Petition Court, which affirmed the victory of President Bola Tinubu in the presidential election.
After the parties’ lawyers adopted their argument briefs and made their final submissions, a seven-member panel of the Supreme Court presided over by Justice Inyang Okoro announced this.
On Atiku’s motion to present new evidence regarding forged documents, the apex court also heard arguments from lawyers for the parties.
The fresh evidences are President Tinubu Bola’s academic records obtained from Chicago State University.
Counsel to Atiku Abubakar, Mr. Chris Uche, urged the court to grant the motion and allow their appeal, grant the prayers sought, and disqualify Tinubu.
Counsel to the Respondents, Abubakar Mahmoud for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Wole Olanipekun for President Tinubu, and Akin Olujinmi for the All Progressives Congress (APC), urged the court to dismiss both the motion and appeal for lack of merit.
