Operatives of the Police Command in Sapele, Delta State, have arrested a 26-year-old man, Destiny Ogheneovo, for allegedly murdering his girlfriend, Jennifer Aaron in Sapele Local Government Area of Delta State.
Destiny was apprehended a few days ago at his home in the NDDC road area of Amukpe, Sapele, by Sapele Division police investigators after Jennifer Aaron’s relatives reported her missing.
A relative of the deceased, Ugomu, told newsmen that Jennifer, who had a two-year-old child with Destiny, parted ways with him about four months ago after their relationship turned sour.
According to him, last Tuesday, Destiny appeared at Jennifer’s family home to take her away on his motorcycle.
Ugomu noted that Jennifer failed to return home that night; her worried relatives began searching for her, but to no avail.
“We looked for her everywhere, but no one knew her whereabouts. It was later that night that someone reportedly overheard Destiny arguing loudly with Jennifer before all went quiet.”
The search group expanded their search to Destiny’s residence, but there was no one there. That is, until Jennifer’s body was discovered discarded at the rear of Destiny’s house yesterday.
The Delta State Command police spokesman, DSP Edafe Bright, could not be reached for comment, but a police source told reporters that Destiny is in the Sapele police cell “but he will soon be taken to Asaba.”
He went on to say that the cause of Jennifer’s death is still unknown because an autopsy has yet to be performed to determine whether she was killed.
Residents in the region were shocked by the terrible find. Jennifer, according to Mary Idu, was a kindhearted person who questioned what could have sparked such brutality against her.
