'To err is human', Obaseki forgives Shaibu

The Gov. Godwin Obaseki-led Edo State government has barred the Deputy Governor of Edo State, Comrade Philip Shaibu, from entering his office in the Government House on Monday.

According to a source, the gate leading to the Shaibu’s office was locked with no one around to open the door for him.

The source said, “The Deputy Governor was here this morning (Monday); the gate leading to his office was locked, and there was no one to open it for him. I think his office has also been closed because of the new office he was told to move to outside the government house.

“He waited for almost 30 minutes before he left. I don’t know if he had gone to his new office, but he was not allowed to move into the one in the government house,” the source added.

An aide to the deputy governor, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said his principal had meetings with the Commissioner of Police and the Director of State Services about how he was locked out of his office.

There was no formal notification, he said, indicating that the deputy governor’s office had been locked.

As a result, Shaibu was alleged to have summoned the Commandant at the Government House, SP Ibrahim Babatunde, and inquired as to why he was locked out of his office.

“He said it was a directive from above, adding that the CSO in government house, Wabba, will be in a better position to explain”, the aide said.

Shaibu was claimed to have called Wabba Williams, who promised to attend to the site but never showed up during the time Shaibu waited.
