Cardoso assumes duty at CBN as Emefiele resigns

Cardoso approves reviewed CBN service charter

Dr. Olayemi Cardoso has assumed office as Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN

This was revealed in a statement released today, Friday, by Dr. Isa Abdulmumin, the apex Bank’s director of corporate communication.

In the interim, he said, Dr. Cardoso would hold the position in an acting capacity while the National Assembly confirmed his nomination.

As Cardoso returns, the Director verified Mr. Godwin Emefiele’s resignation from his position as the CBN Governor.

Along with all of the CBN’s deputy governors, Mr. Folashodun Shonubi, who has been serving as acting governor since Mr. Emefiele’s suspension, has also tendered his resignation.
