    Police arrest footballer for killing ex-lover in Ondo

    The Ondo State Police Command has apprehended one Bankole Oginni, who allegedly killed his ex-lover.

    Oginni, a 45-year-old man who claimed to be a footballer, is alleged to have killed the deceased and ripped her belly open at his residence in the Oke Aro area of Akure, the Ondo State capital.

    It was reported that the daughter of the deceased discovered her mother’s lifeless body at his residence before alerting the police.

    Following her inability to reach her mother, she went to Oginni’s residence, where she found the lifeless body of her mother.

    Confirming the incident, the Ondo State Police spokesman, SP Fumilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, said she found her mother’s corpse in Oginni’s room with her legs and hands tied while her belly was ripped open and the intestines removed.

    He said, “A lady reported at the station that her mother’s ex-lover, Bankole Oginni, called and invited her over to his place at Oke Aro area of Akure, and after she left for his house, she did not return.

    “Her phone was switched off. She traced her mother to the house, only to find her lifeless body in the room of her ex-lover. Her legs and hands were tied, and her body opened with intestines removed. The suspect is in custody while the body of the deceased has been deposited at the mortuary”.

    Odunlami-Omisanya further disclosed that the suspect has been arrested.
