Napoli, the Italian champions, have offered Victor Osimhen a new two-year contract worth N6.5bn — €6.5m plus €1m in bonuses.
With two years left on his contract in Napoli, the prolific striker had demanded a salary of €7 million per year in order to extend his present stay with the Italian champions, who are eager to lock him down to a new contract despite interest from some of Europe’s top teams.
According to reports, the new proposed deal will feature a £170 million release clause for the Nigerian striker.
The Nigerian talisman scored 26 goals in 32 games to lead the Partenopei to their first title in 33 years.
“Napoli is in advanced talks to extend his (Osimhen) contract until 2027 with an increase in salary to €6.5m plus €1m as bonuses,” Sky Sports revealed on Monday.
Napoli’s new manager, Rudi Garcia, indicated that the Nigerian would continue at the club for the start of the next season.
“Of course, I have spoken to Osimhen who wants to stay here to make another great season with Napoli,” Garcia said.
