The Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, on Tuesday decorated the new Acting Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.

Shettima decorated Egbetokun in place of President Bola Tinubu, who had earlier left for Paris, France, to attend the Financial Pact Summit.

His decoration at the presidential villa was a brief ceremony witnessed by top government officials.

These include the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume; the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila; the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; the Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, who also serves as the Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum; and the outgoing IG,Baba Usman.

President Tinubu on Monday night appointed Egbetokun as the acting Inspector General of Police, pending the confirmation of the Senate.

Egbetokun, the new Acting IGP, replaced Baba Usman, who was appointed as the Inspector General by the immediate past President, Muhammadu Buhari, in 2021.
