Barcelona women win UWCL with 3-2 comeback over Wolfsburg

Barcelona Femini have emerged the winners of the 2022 – 2023 UEFA Women’s Champions League with their win over Wolfsburg.

The Spanish side, came from two goals down to defeat Wolfsburg in the five-goal encounter.

The German side took the early lead in the 3rd minute of the match with a goal from E. Pajor. In the 37th minute, A. Popp’s goal, extended their lead by two goals to nothing.

However, a brace from P. Guijarro helped the undaunted Barcelona women restore parity.

The Barcelona women who failed to overturn a 2-0 deficit in the first half of the final when they faced Lyon last session, had their chance to return to the pinnacle of European women football with a goal from Fridolina Rolfo in the 70th minute.

An elated Fridolina Rolfo, who scored the winner for Barcelona, had this to say after the match: “So emotional [at the moment]. I never thought this would happen. After two goals in the beginning [of the half], I thought we could do it.

“We showed our mentality though and I am so proud of the team. We had to continue to believe in what we were doing, and we did it in the end.
