Suspected herdsmen allegedly killed one officer of a vigilante organization in the Umutu town of Delta State’s Ukwuani Local Government Area and shot another.

According to accounts, three persons were taken by armed ranchers who invaded the community’s riverside area on Friday evening.

The vigilante group, according to the source, banded together and scoured the bushes until they spotted the ranchers and liberated the three abducted victims.

“As the herders approached the town, one of the vigilantes, Mr. Oliseneku, was shot in the stomach, but due to a lack of good hospitals nearby, he was rushed to Asaba.”

“When they arrived at FMC, they discovered that they were on strike, so they had to look for other good hospitals, which they eventually found.”

“But before any tangible services could be rendered, the vigilante died due to extreme loss of blood and long hours on the road searching for hospitals.

According to another report, the other vigilante who was shot is currently battling for his life.

Bright Edafe, the Police Public Relations Officer of the State, confirmed the incident. However, he could not ascertain if the hoodlums were herdsmen.
