Vice President Yemi Osinbajo presided over a special Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the State House in Abuja on Monday, two weeks before the present administration ends.
The Vice President presided over the meeting in place of President Muhammadu Buhari, who is still in London for medical reasons.
The special FEC meeting, which is anticipated to debate over 30 letters from various government departments and agencies, is being organized to deal with a backlog of pending memos as the administration closes up this week ahead of the May 29 handover date.
Boss Mustapha, Secretary to the Government of the Federation; Major General Babagana Monguno (rtd), National Security Adviser; and Folashade Yemi-Esan, Head of the Federation’s Civil Service, are among those in attendance.
Others are Minister of State for Labor and Employment, Festus Keyamo; Ministers of Justice, Abubakar Malami; Finance, Zainab Ahmed; Interior, Rauf Aregbesola; Humanitarian Affairs, Sadiya Umar; Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami, amongst others.
President Muhammadu is expected to return to Nigeria on Tuesday to chair Wednesday’s council meeting.
