In Abuja, the presidential election petition tribunal has begun hearings.

Remember that Peter Obi of the Labour Party, LP, and Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, are contesting Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, APC, as the winner of the February 25 presidential election.

According to media reports, Atiku is asking the court, among other things, to force the electoral authority to hold a new poll due to alleged irregularities at voting stations during the presidential poll.

Obi, for one, claimed that Tinubu did not get a majority of legitimate votes and did not receive one-quarter of the votes cast in the Federal Capital Territory, or FCT.

He also claimed anomalies in the election’s conduct, claiming Tinubu and his running companion, Kashim Shettima, were not eligible to run, report said.
