David Hundeyin, a Nigerian investigative journalist, has claimed that his Twitter account was suspended after he revealed the dual citizenship status of Nigeria’s president-elect, Bola Tinubu.
Hundeyin’s Twitter account was restricted after he revealed evidence of the president-elect of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) having undeclared dual citizenship.
He had published evidence that the former Lagos State governor has an undisclosed dual citizenship from Guinea but lied under penalty of perjury before the 2023 general elections when he filled out the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) EC9 declaration form that he had no other citizenship except the Nigerian passport.
Tinubu’s concealed dual citizenship has sparked outrage across the country and beyond, prompting Tinubu fans to denounce Hundeyin’s account to the Twitter administration for allegedly “posting private information.”
Confirming the suspension of his Twitter account, Hundeyin wrote on his blog, West Africa Weekly, “After posting evidence of @officialABAT’s undisclosed dual citizenship and perjurious INEC EC9 declaration, West Africa Weekly founder @DavidHundeyin’s Twitter account has been maliciously reported for “posting private information” and is temporarily locked.”
Chronicle NG cannot independently confirm that Twitter suspended his account because of the post on Tinubu’s dual citizenship or because of some other posts that revealed private information.
