The verification badge on the official account of Bola Tinubu, Nigeria’s president-elect has been removed by Twitter on Thursday.

Chronicle NG could not independently verify why the verification badge from @officialABAT was removed by the social media platform.

Findings however revealed that Twitter could remove the verification badge if the account has violated one of its rules.

“Twitter may also remove the checkmark from accounts that are found to be in violation of the Twitter Rules,” the social media platform said on its website.

It is not clear why the former Lagos governor’s checkmark was removed but Chronicle NG reports that his media handlers have not posted any content on the account since April 17.
