A classmate of the deceased, who did not want to be identified, described the situation as heartbreaking.

“I can’t believe Stanley is gone. He was doing well academically, one wonders what could have made him commit suicide,” she said.

Attempts to obtain a response from Cross River State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Irene Ugbo, were futile.

When contacted, Prof. Florence Obi, the University’s Vice Chancellor, stated that she has yet to be briefed about the occurrence.
