Stanley Nwanne was a vivacious and lucky go happy young man

Stanley Nwanne, a final-year student at the University of Calabar’s Faculty of Medical Laboratory Science, has committed suicide according to multiple sources.

Nwanne on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, reportedly committed suicide at his flat outside the University campus.

His body was discovered by his cousin, who noticed him dangling in the toilet with a rope around his neck and immediately notified neighbours.

He was brought to the hospital and declared dead by the attending doctor. The reason for his suicide remains unknown.

Stanley Nwanne, was said to be full of vitality and life a day before the tragedy and was said to be preparing for his professional tests next month.

A classmate of the deceased, who did not want to be identified, described the situation as heartbreaking.

“I can’t believe Stanley is gone. He was doing well academically, one wonders what could have made him commit suicide,” she said.

Attempts to obtain a response from Cross River State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Irene Ugbo, were futile.

When contacted, Prof. Florence Obi, the University’s Vice Chancellor, stated that she has yet to be briefed about the occurrence.
