Kevin Durant has agreed to remain at Brooklyn Nets

Kevin Durant has signed a “lifetime contract” with apparel giant Nike, the NBA star said on Friday, joining Michael Jordan and LeBron James as the only basketball players with lifetime contracts.

Durant, 34, has been with Nike since his NBA debut in 2007 – the same season he won Rookie of the Year – and has launched 15 different styles of basketball footwear.

“When I first signed with Nike, I had no idea how far we’d go in this partnership.” “We’ve done incredible work creatively and philanthropically,” said Durant, a two-time NBA champion and 13-time All-Star, in a statement through Boardroom.

“We’ve travelled the world together and created a company that will last forever.” I’m delighted for the future and honoured to be in such exclusive company with this transaction.”

Durant’s interest in grassroots basketball has been sponsored by Nike, which has helped repair courts in communities throughout the globe via the Durant Family Foundation.

“As one of the best basketball players in the world, Kevin Durant has been an important part of the Nike family for the past 16 years,” John Slusher, Nike’s executive vice president of global sports marketing, said.

“We look forward to continuing to serve the next generation of athletes together.”

The Suns have advanced to the Western Conference semi-finals, where they will face the Denver Nuggets.
