Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, Governor of Anambra State, has closed Tower Primary School in Oba due to allegations of test malpractice during the 2023 Transition Placement test.

Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, the Commissioner for Education, declared the closure following a meeting to investigate the case of misconduct brought against a Parent-Teacher Association teacher, Precious Chibuzo, who invigilated the exam at the Umuogali Community Primary School in Oba.

According to reports, the school’s proprietress sneaked into the examination hall, conspired with the PTA teacher, photographed the question paper, solved the questions, and provided solutions to the candidates.

According to a statement issued by Anambra ministry’s Public Relations Officer, Nnaemeka Egwuonwu, an inquiry was conducted by the ministry in response to reports from Triumphant Cross School, Oba, revealed that proprietress of the Tower Academy, Oba, connived with the students in the misconduct.

Egwuonwu said, “The proprietress sneaked into the examination hall, connived with the PTA teacher, took a photograph of the question paper, solved questions and supplied answers to the candidates.

“The proprietress, Kosisochukwu Igwe, who admitted committing the offence, pleaded for forgiveness, while the PTA teacher, Chibuzo Precious, who had earlier admitted committing the offence has been dismissed from the school.

“Meanwhile, the Anambra Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, has directed a resit of the examination for all the candidates involved in the centre.

“The resit examination to be personally supervised by the commissioner has been fixed for Tuesday, April 4, 2023.

“The Tower Primary School Oba remains closed till further notice, while the PTA teacher, Precious Chibuzo, should not be seen around the school anymore.”

Meanwhile, the state government has rewarded the pupils of Triumphant Cross Schools Oba, for reporting malpractice during the 2023 Transition Placement Examination. The Commissioner announced the reward on Monday.
