    Auto crash claims five lives in Bayelsa

    A deadly crash on the Tombia-Amassoma road in Bayelsa State claimed the lives of five people.

    The accident happened on Friday and included a black Toyota SUV with the license plate RGM 38 HM and a Mazda 323F with the license plate NEM 456 PG.

    Both vehicles collided head-on.

    The dead include the Mazda driver and four passengers, all of whom perished on the scene.

    Asinim Butswat, the spokesman for the Bayelsa State Police Command, verified the accident.

    Butswat said, “Four passengers and the driver of the Mazda car died on the spot.

    “A female passenger was rescued and hospitalized at the Niger Delta University Teaching Hospital, Okolobiri.

    “Corpses of the victims were deposited at the same hospital for autopsy.

    “Investigation is ongoing to arrest the driver of the SUV car and to ascertain the cause of the fatal car crash.”
