Man sells 5-year-old boy after killing father
Promise Thompson was sentenced to death by hanging by a Port Harcourt High Court for armed robbery and child theft.
Thompson and his accomplice, Beatrice Ogbunka, were charged with armed robbery, kidnapping, and child theft.
They were accused of murdering Chidiebere Ogbugu and kidnapping his five-year-old son.
The incident occurred on October 25, 2018, in Rumuolumeni, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Rivers State.
Ogbunka, on the other hand, was said to have fled after being granted bail by the police.
In his decision, the presiding judge, Justice Sika Henry-Aprioku, stated that the prosecution counsel established that Thompson took the infant to Abia State and sold him to a syndicate, who then sold the boy to another syndicate.
Justice Henry-Aprioku also sentenced one Chisom Lucky to 7yrs imprisonment, while her husband, Lucky, bagged 10 for child theft, for buying the child from Thompson and selling him off afterwards.
