Lawyers threaten FG with lawsuit over Kaduna bombing

A constitutional lawyer, Dr Kayode Ajulo, has advised the Labour Party (LP) not to join the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in seeking legal redress in the recently concluded presidential election.

The LP and PDP have alleged irregularities in the conduct of the elections that resulted in Sen. Bola Tinubu’s election as president-elect and have expressed interest in filing a legal challenge.

“I find it strange that Labour party is parleying with the PDP, whereas when the PDP was supposed to negotiate with the Labour party it did not; LP should be wary of this alliance”, he said.

As a result, he urged the Labour party to separate from the PDP and pursue its case on its own if it felt strongly that the election results were unacceptable.

He questioned why the Labour party believed it could obtain justice through the PDP, which had denied Peter Obi justice during the party primaries.

He did, however, warn against making statements that could inflame the political situation and jeopardize the country’s democracy.

“No one should incite the youth against the country the court is there for anybody who is aggrieved to see redress.

“We cannot afford violence in this country. This country belongs to all of us; no frivolous application should be taken to court in the name of seeking legal redress”, he said.

He urged the leadership of Labour party and its presidential candidate to focus and nation building and March 11 governorship election.
