Niger gov. emerges winner of senatorial seat

Governor of Niger state, Abubakar Bello

The Independent National Electoral Commission has declared the Niger State Governor, Abubakar Bello, of the All Progressives Congress the winner of the Niger North senatorial election.

According to the returning officer, Zacchaeus Kolo, who announced the results, Bello polled 100,197 votes and having satisfied all conditions was declared the winner.

Bello won the senatorial election against the PDP and NNPP candidates who scored 88,158 and 13,886 votes respectively.

He has served as a two-term governor on the platform of APC.

He was born on 17 December 1967.  He attended ST. Loius primary school, Kano from 1974 – 1979 and later went to Nigerian Military School from 1980 – 1985 then was given admission into University of Maiduguri 1986 – 1991 where he obtained a B.Sc in Economics.

He has worked in various places in the country, starting from his NYSC days, where he was posted to serve in Port Harcourt in the Marketing department of NICOTES Services as Supervisor.

He  is the son of former military Governor of old Kano state Col. Sani Bello (retd).
