A total of 67 new broadcast licenses have been approved by President Muhammadu Buhari.
With the addition of these, Buhari has now authorized 473 broadcast licenses, bringing the total number of operational stations in Nigeria to 740.
This was revealed on Thursday at a briefing in Abuja by Malam Balarabe Shehu Ilelah, Director General of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC).
Ilelah added that these new stations were being watched.
He said a Central Monitoring Committee has been set up to provide a rapid response to unethical practices.
He also appealed to all stations yet to settle their outstanding dues to do so.
