Azpilicueta discharged after head injury

Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta was released from hospital on Tuesday, three days after suffering concussion in his team’s Premier League loss to Southampton.
During the second half, the Spaniard was inadvertently kicked in the head by Southampton’s Sekou Mara and was carried off the Stamford Bridge pitch on a stretcher.
“The club’s medical team is closely monitoring Cesar’s condition, adhering to the critical concussion protocols in place to ensure his safety,” according to a statement.
“Cesar observed training today before beginning his preparations to return to the field.”
Chelsea travels to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, and Azpilicueta’s return is subject to the Football Association and Premier League concussion protocols.
