Standard Chartered prunes operation over Abuja security alert

Standard Chartered Bank of Nigeria on Friday announced a change in its operations in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital following a security alarm raised by the US and UK embassy.

The bank in a message to its customers noted that banking hours have been pruned for the safety of staff and customers.

“Dear Client, please note that our branches in Abuja will be closing by 3pm until further advised.

“We apologise for any inconvenience. Thank you,” Standard Chartered Bank said in a text message sent to customers.

Chronicle NG reports that the United State and United Kingdom embassies based in Abuja alerted its citizens in Nigeria about an impending terrorist attack.

Following the security alert by the US embassy, Nigeria’s secret agency, DSS and the US army have arrested suspected terrorists at the Trademore Estate in the Lugbe area of the Federal Capital Territory.
