President Muhammadu Buhari is currently meeting with at least 10 northern All Progressives Congress (APC) governors at the State House as the presidential primaries kick off in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.
The northern governors who have zoned presidency to the south have met some stiff resistance from some northern aspirants who claimed that they were not carried along.
Governor Yahaya Bello is one of such aspirant who said he was not informed before the northern governors issued a signed statement.
A source close to the meeting however told Chronicle NG that meeting was geared towards agreeing to a consensus candidate after the Southwest aspirants failed to reach an agreement on Saturday.
The governors in attendance are Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna state; Abdullahi Ganduje Masari of Kano state; Bello Matawalle of Zamfara state; and Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa state.
Others Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe state; Babagana Zulum of Borno state; Simon Lalong of Plateau state; Abubakar Bagudu of Kebbi state and Mai Mala Buni of Yobe state.
