President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday evening met with governors on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) behind closed doors to discuss a consensus presidential candidate.
The President also met members of the APC Caucus in the National Assembly at the Presidential Villa, Abuja on the same subject matter.
Chronicle NG had reported that the APC has not fixed a date for its presidential screening pending the outcome of this meeting but after the meeting, the governors and lawmakers refused to speak to the media.
A source close to the APC secretariat told our reporter that the President wants a consensus candidate and wants the party to screen whoever the party agree upon, rather than screening over 20 candidates.
President Buhari is expected to meet with the APC presidential aspirants today, according to another source.
It is unclear that all presidential aspirants will bow to the President and party’s choice but if those not happen then there will be elections on May 29 at the Eagle Square in Abuja.
