Lagos seals Havilah event centre where fuel was shared as souvenir

The Lagos State Government through the Lagos Safety Commission and the Rapid Response Squad has sealed Havilah Event Centre, Oniru, after petrol was shared as souvenir at a party.

The event centre was sealed after the Lagos Commissioner of Police gave the order to seal the centre.

According to the state government, Havilah event centre contravened public safety rules and jeopardised the lives and property of residents.

Lagos State Government through the Lagos Safety Commission and the Rapid Response Squad has sealed Havillah Event Centre, Oniru, for Contravening Public Safety Rules (Fuel Souvenir) … as Lagos CP orders the arrest of culprits involved.

The Lagos government had earlier said it would probe the videos posted on social media that showed petrol handed out as souvenirs.

“The attention of the Lagos State Government has been drawn to a video showing kegs of petrol being handed out as souvenirs at an event Centre in Lagos. The video has gone viral on the social media, said Gbenga Omotoso, the Lagos commissioner of information and strategy.

“There is no doubt that this action is dangerous and can lead to loss of lives and property. It is blatantly against all safety measures in such places.

“The Lagos State Government through the Safety Commission is investigating this matter and will ensure that all parties to this reprehensible action are made to account for it.

“The safety of lives and properties of Lagosians and visitors remain a top priority to the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu administration. We, therefore , advise that actions that can lead to loss of lives and properties be avoided.
