The governors of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) have thrown their weight behind Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) chairman, Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe state.

The governors also supported the decision of the CECPC to postpone the national convention till March 26.

The position of the All Progressives Congress governors was made known by Governor Abubakar Bagudu of of Kebbi State who spoke with journalists after the APC governors met with President Muhammadu Buhari at the State House.

Also speaking to journalists, Governor Nasir El-Rufai said that it is okay for the governors to differ but that they always reach a conclusion.

“There were differences among APC governors over timing of the convention. This is what the media called ‘divided governors’. There’s no way you can have 22 governors agreeing on every issue. You can have differences, but to call it division is taking it too far,” he said.

“After our meeting last night and our briefing with President Muhammadu Buhari today, we are all on the same page. We have agreed on a simple, equitable and fair zoning formula for all geopolitical zones. By God’s grace by March 26 we will hold the APC national convention,” he added.

He noted that, “Let there be no doubt that the Progressive Governors are United in our resolve to ensure that the Peoples Destruction Party doesn’t come back to power.”
