The owner of the 21-storey building which collapsed in Ikoyi on Monday afternoon, has been found dead.

Femi Osibona’s death was confirmed by renowned journalist Dele Momodu who posted the news on his Instagram handle on Thursday evening.

Osibona’s body was recovered from the rubble on Thursday evening after three days of intensive search and rescue operations.

Prior to the latest development, the whereabouts of the high-rise building owner was unclear but there were speculations that he was on-site at the time of the incident.

An official of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) also confirmed Osibona’s death.

The body of the personal assistant of Mr Osibona had earlier been recovered from the rubble.

So far, not less than 36 bodies have been recovered from the rubble as search and rescue operations continue.

The collapsed building is one of three buildings located along Gerrard Road, which is owned by Fourscore Homes.

The latest development comes after the Governor of Lagos State Babajide Sanwo-Olu declared three days of mourning across the state, adding that all flags are to fly at half-mast.
