Unknown gunmen kill four in fresh Imo attack

Four persons have been killed after an attack by a group of unidentified gunmen in in Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of Imo on Tuesday night.
The assailants who reportedly came in white Toyota Sienna, opened fire in the market at about 8:30pm when traders were preparing to close for the day.
Four people were said to have been killed during the sporadic shooting.
A member of the market leadership told newsmen that the attackers opened fire on woman selling cooked food, killing three on the spot, while one person who was rushed to a hospital later gave up the ghost.
“They (attackers) went in their vehicle and didn’t alight from the vehicle shot sporadically at the traders without provocation then drove away, immediately,” he said.
The bodies of the victims had been removed from the scene of the incident on Wednesday morning.
The spokesman of the Imo state police command, Michael Abattam stated that the commissioner of police, Rabiu Hussaini, has ordered an investigation into the attack.
The attack comes five days after gunmen attacked a community in Obowo local government area in Imo state in which three persons were killed.
