JUST IN: Abducted UNIABUJA professors rescued, suspects arrested by police

The professors and four other persons who were abducted from the University of Abuja (UNIABUJA) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have been rescued by operatives of the FCT Police command.
The victims who were kidnapped from the staff quarters of the university in Gwagwalada Area Council were freed after three days in captivity.
Their release was disclosed by the spokesman for the FCT Police Command, Josephine Adeh on Friday.
“The FCT Police Command wishes to inform members of the public that all abducted victims of the university of Abuja were rescued and reunited with their families through a joint operation with other security agencies.
The victims include two professors, one senior lecturer and three family members.
The Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), UNIABUJA Chapter, Dr Kasim Umar, confirmed the incident, adding that no ransom was paid for their release.
Chronicle NG reported how the assailants had invaded the homes of the victims at about 1am on Tuesday.
The kidnappers reportedly operated for two hours before whisking away the victims to an unknown location.
